The Dallas County Law Enforcement Center, situated in Adel, Iowa, is a significant development project spanning 14.88 acres with a total investment of $18.5 million. Civil Design Advantage (CDA) played a crucial role in this project by developing the comprehensive site plan for the 52,995 square-foot facility. This plan included the creation of 87 parking spaces with provisions for an additional 40 spaces in the future, ensuring ample room for expansion.
In addition to the parking facilities, the site plan encompassed essential security measures such as fencing around the entire property. The design also featured loading docks, a secure drive-through sally port, and well-planned sidewalks. A notable element of the project is the plaza entry, which includes distinctive colored concrete design with tightly jointed patterns. CDA’s design work required close coordination with the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) and included geothermal well design, as well as the planning of multiple detention basins to accommodate future development phases.
The project also included the design of three future housing pods, with one specifically graded to facilitate easy expansion of the property as needed. Civil Design Advantage provided a full range of services including master planning, preliminary design, final design, and limited construction administration. The preliminary and final design phases included the preparation of detailed construction and contract documents, enabling the county to proceed with the project bidding in accordance with applicable laws.
